Chris Cummins, from Minnesota, and I had the opportunity to visit Hillwood Estates just about 4 miles from the convention center. The setting is absolutely incredible! It was owned by Marjorie Merriweather Post, the heiress of the Postum fortune. She knew she wanted her home to be a museum and became a curator extraordinaire and specialized in Russian art. One of her husbands was an ambassador to Russia during the revolution. There were stories of her crawling through the rubble retrieving artifacts which became later known as great works of art. She also had in her collection 2 rare Fabrege eggs among other Fabrege collectibles. It was probably one of my most favorite things and places to have been to see in D.C.
