I started hunting for houses on May 23 after moving out of our Phoenix house. We made an offer that day on a house which was quite a bit of a "fixer upper." Scott wouldn't let me call it the ugly house because that was the term we used for the house we bought in Phoenix which turned out to be beautiful. So, we decided to call this one the "beater" house. That was Monday and we didn't find out until Thursday night at the Rockie's baseball game that we had been out bid. We had been afraid of that because there were actually four offers on the table. We went out that day (Thursday) and looked at several houses and kind of picked one as a back up. That next morning we went and put together an offer on the backup. It was accepted and we scheduled the inspection. The inspector wasn't there for even an hour when he was telling me that the roof would need to be replaced and that they should call a structural engineer to check out the settling in the basement. I thought maybe they just built basements with all of the edges sloping away from the center. We decided to pull the plug on it and set out to find another one.
This is the one. Of course this isn't our furniture. It's much nicer than ours!
We were in a bit of a time crunch because we were planning on leaving town soon to go back to Phoenix and decided on this one on Montclair in Highlands Ranch, CO. After going back and forth on the price we finally came to an agreement. We're still looking at the same time frame of hopefully moving in on the 1st of July. We've made it through the inspection and the appraisal should be this week. It's a beautiful home. It's bigger than we need but fits the furniture we have. I think after this we'll just sell the furniture. Except for the piano, of course.
