We were lucky enough to purchase an entertainment center from our good friend, Vickie Walker, after figuring out the measurements and that it would indeed fit in our house in Phoenix. The problem was in figuring out how to get it down here from Utah. We ended up borrowing an open trailer from friends, the Andras. We bought tarps and plastic to wrap it in, found as many blankets as we had at home and met Alex Walker at their storage unit as soon as we could get there (after flying home from Dallas, driving to Provo and then driving back to Salt Lake) . . . CRAZY!
We got our son Jeff and a few of Scott's high school friends (Doug, Paul and Paul) who had planned on getting together that night for dinner and insisted on helping us (thank goodness!!!!). Just as we started to load it, it started to rain/snow which got everything wet, including us. We were freezing! We drove back to Provo that night, unwrapped everything, unloaded it, dried the blankets and towels, and dried it all off. We were planning on leaving the next morning about 7 am but we had to re-load it all, and then re-wrapped it. We ended up leaving about 11:30 a.m. and got home about 1:30 a.m. It was a very long day driving through blizzards, rain, and fighting a weaving trailer off and on the whole way.
Andy drove down and arrived about an hour before us. We just put everything in the garage and left it there for a day or so. We wanted to have it together for Thanksgiving but finally gave up close to midnight (Scott would have stayed up all night to finish it if we'd let him) and went to bed. The TV that we had didn't fit and we really didn't have the money to go buy a new one. Luckily Scott had won 4 tickets to a Cardinals vs. 49ers game so he sold them. Unfortunately instead of the $1200 face value on the tickets, he ended up with $600 to purchase his TV. He used his cup of change which came to $48 and we bought a 50" TV with that to put in the entertainment center! It looks great and we LOVE it! We still have to put the crown moulding up and we're missing one piece of base moulding, but we'll get it done in the next day or so.
Fits quite nicely, don't you think?
